Via Crucis – Soon
Installation and Performance, 2012
Kunstfest Weimar
As part of Robert Wilson’s production of the “Via Crucis” (Franz Liszt), the installation “Soon” was created in the summer of 2012. For the conceptual planning of the overall project, a group of students from the Bauhaus University Weimar met with the artist in August 2011 for a ten-day workshop at the “Watermill Center” on Long Island (N.Y.). There and during several planning meetings in the course of the following year, the installation plans were worked out together.
“From the very beginning, the personal relationship between viewer and installation was at the center of the designs for “Soon” – visual art, too, always has something of a theatrical experience for me. Although the outer form has changed radically again and again in the course of the workshops with Bob, one “scene” has accompanied me through all phases: the image of an individual slowly walking through a mutely staring mass.”
